Beber em excesso tamb\u00e9m aumenta o risco de outras condi\u00e7\u00f5es de sa\u00fade, como problemas de f\u00edgado, doen\u00e7as cardiovasculares e c\u00e2ncer. Este estudo examinou indiv\u00edduos de v\u00e1rias popula\u00e7\u00f5es \u00e9tnicas para determinar as variantes gen\u00e9ticas associadas a esta condi\u00e7\u00e3o. Eles definiram a varia\u00e7\u00e3o no consumo de \u00e1lcool como 2 fatores: se o indiv\u00edduo bebia ou n\u00e3o e se bebia, a quantidade de bebidas por semana. 2 das variantes identificadas foram significativas para pessoas de v\u00e1rios grupos \u00e9tnicos (trans\u00e9tnicas), enquanto as outras 2 estavam associadas a popula\u00e7\u00f5es espec\u00edficas.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>VOC\u00ca SABIA?<\/strong> Mais de 7% dos americanos com mais de 18 anos abusam do \u00e1lcool. Isso \u00e9 1 em 13 adultos! Embora os n\u00fameros variem dependendo da fonte, homens que bebem menos de 4 doses por dia ou 14 doses por semana e mulheres que bebem menos de 3 doses por dia ou 7 doses por semana n\u00e3o s\u00e3o considerados dependentes de \u00e1lcool.
