Para identificar variantes gen\u00e9ticas associadas ao desenvolvimento de c\u00e2ncer de pele, este estudo examinou 11.389 indiv\u00edduos de ascend\u00eancia europeia. As variantes mais significativas foram localizadas nos genes ATM e CASP8. A prote\u00edna codificada pelo gene ATM verifica o DNA em busca de danos em v\u00e1rios est\u00e1gios do ciclo celular e ativa outros genes se o DNA estiver danificado. O gene CASP8 desempenha um papel essencial na apoptose. ATM e CASP8 tamb\u00e9m foram implicados em outros tipos de c\u00e2ncer.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>VOC\u00ca SABIA?<\/strong> Para prevenir o melanoma, deve-se usar protetor solar (FPS 30 m\u00ednimo) e roupas protetoras, evitando tamb\u00e9m o sol do meio-dia e sol\u00e1rios.
